Barack and Michelle Obama’s Post–White House Activities Now Include Lunch with Bono

By Hilary Weaver

Barack and Michelle Obama have been enjoying their post-White House days. Those shots of the gleeful couple on Richard Branson’s private island and last Sunday’s image of the leather-jacket clad former POTUS strolling outside of the National Gallery of Art are definitive photographic evidence. On Friday, the couple added “casual lunch with Bono” to their list of post-White House activities, People reports.

The trio was spotted in Manhattan’s Upland, where they reportedly had a private dining room in the restaurant’s downstairs section. One patron captured the couple being applauded, sharing the video on Instagram. “We love you, Obama!” someone called.

This kind of reception has been something of a pattern for Obama in his post-POTUS weeks.

When he was in town visiting daughter Malia at the end of February, New Yorkers cheered when they saw number 44 had returned from his much-deserved island retreat. Crowds gathered to watch him exit a New York City Starbucks on that same trip.
